My 7th grade English Teacher, Coach Stephens(who gave me quite a few lashings with his paddle, but that's another story for another day) assigned us a "Mark Twain" folder and a "Mythology" folder. We had to read quite a few stories and myths and summarize them into a folder to be turned in at the end of each semester (Mark Twain Fall Semester 1982, Mythology Spring Semester 1983). He said he was going to require that they be typed. This was a little before home computers/word processors were available so I went down to the pawn shop and bought a typewriter, checked out a library book on how to type and taught myself to type.
