Life was simpler with out all the gadgets we have, but having a cell phone on a hike could be a worthy tool.
There's two edges to the smartphone. Yes, it seemed like kids got out a lot more and did explore and tramp through the woods before smartphones, but it would have been nice to have been able to call someone that day. We got lucky.
